Można go spotkać jedynie w prywatnych kolekcjach lub w ogrodach botanicznych, np. w Królewskim Ogrodzie Botanicznym w Edynburgu, a szkoda, bo wart jest rozpowszechniania z uwagi na dekoracyjność i wysoką mrozoodporność. To ciekawostka dendrologiczna, coś dla kolekcjonerów unikatowych egzemplarzy. Okaz trudny do zdobycia nawet w Europie.
Dorasta do około 3-5 m wysokości. Młode liście i pędy miedziano-różowe wiosną, później zielone z wierzchu, a uderzająco białe pod spodem. Liście jajowate do podłużnych, podwójnie ząbkowane. Kwiatostany w gęstych pęczkach, żółtozielone, z czerwonymi pylnikami, bardzo dekoracyjne. Kwitnie od kwietnia do czerwca.
Po kwitnieniu dojrzewają fioletowo-czarne, eliptyczne owoce.
Rady ogrodnika: Preferuje stanowiska słoneczne i półcieniste. Nie ma szczególnych wymagań względem podłoża, lubi lekko wilgotne. Mrozoodporny do -29'C.
